INDIVIDUAL SERVICES
45-MINUTE COACHING SESSION
During a coaching session, you may ask any questions about the application process (e.g., "Based on my interests, should I apply to Ph.D. or Psy.D. programs?"). You may select one coaching session or a series of them. A coaching session does not include review of any application materials.
PRE-APPLICATION STRATEGIZING AND JOB ADVISING
It's never too early to start planning for doctoral program applications! You and Chloe will discuss gaps in your experience and work together to search for and secure you a position (e.g., research assistant) to bolster your competitiveness. This service also includes edits of your cover letter template.
APPLICATION ORGANIZATION, TIMELINE, AND GRE ADVISING
In order to avoid an overwhelming and stressful application experience, you and Chloe will have a coaching session to discuss and create a personally tailored application timeline. Chloe will then provide organizational documents and worksheets for you to track your progress and maintain accountability along the way. This service also includes GRE advising, which entails coaching around a studying timeline and whether to take the exam multiple times, as well as a personally created list of GRE vocabulary words and a proprietary study guide for the Psychology GRE.
PROGRAM SELECTION
In light of the diversity of programs across a range of continua (e.g., clinical-research; funded-unfunded; mentorship model-general admission process), selecting psychology doctoral programs is a task that is difficult to tackle alone. Chloe will help you curate a list of programs well suited to your training interests (e.g., emphasis on clinical work), research interests (e.g., adolescent depression), professional goals (e.g., obtaining a faculty position), and preferences (e.g., geographical location).
CV CONSTRUCTION
Many applicants struggle to balance showcasing and marketing themselves with maintaining accuracy and humility. Chloe will help you create or refine an academic CV (curriculum vitae), perfecting both the structure (e.g., making it clear and visually appealing) and content (e.g., employing strong and compelling language). The end product will be an encapsulation of your impressive experiences and accomplishments that highlights your strengths and uniqueness as an applicant.
PERSONAL STATEMENT DEVELOPMENT
Writing your personal statement is arguably the most daunting task to tackle: you must sum up who you are, what makes the program perfect for you, and why a program should choose you over hundreds of other applicants. Chloe offers help with all aspects of this process by helping you brainstorm and outline your statement and then providing feedback on your drafts.
PERSONAL STATEMENT EDITING
If you've already drafted a personal statement and don't need help with strategizing, brainstorming, or outlining, you might opt to have your personal statement edited. This service includes a one-time provision of feedback on your personal statement draft without preliminary exercises or coaching.
SUPPLEMENTAL ESSAY EDITING
Many schools require supplemental essays in addition to the personal statement. Chloe will provide feedback on three of your supplemental essays.
FACULTY LETTERS
Common questions from applicants include: Do I write to faculty members? When? What should I say? Based on your list of programs, Chloe and you will determine which faculty members to write to prior to applying, and Chloe will provide feedback on your letters. This work will result in a product that effectively and articulately conveys the necessary information and helps you stand out before even submitting your application.
INTERVIEW PREP
Receiving an interview offer is a monumental step toward acceptance and indicates that the admissions committee was impressed with you on paper and would like to experience you in person. As such, it is a critical opportunity to shine. Chloe will provide you with a proprietary interview preparation document and will conduct three 45-minute-long mock interviews with you, which include real-time feedback and strategies. Interview etiquette (e.g., what to wear, whether to send thank you notes or not) will also be discussed to ensure that you portray yourself professionally and personably.
DECISION-MAKING
Acceptance into more than one doctoral program is a remarkable accomplishment. Given the variability in programs across multiple dimensions, it is sometimes exceedingly difficult to choose where to spend the next five to seven years of your life! In the context of a coaching session, Chloe will help you make a decision that takes into account a host of important factors, including finances, immediate goals, and career opportunities.
